| VRGM RECORDS Massive
Attack Danny The Dog OST Sampler Virgin Records will release Massive Attack's original score to the Luc Besson film Danny The Dog on 11 October. The band were approached personally by Luc Besson and the film's director, Louis Leierrier, to record the soundtrack. Working over an 11-week period, the band set out to create an instrumental soundtrack which captures both the fast-paced action and reflective sadness of Danny The Dog. The soundtrack is made up of 21 pieces of music, which run in chronological order throughout the film, with each piece depicting a certain scene. We have picked some of the highlights for this very limited edition sampler. "One Thought At A Time" is an awesome dark violent centrepiece and a great place to kick off this sampler. Massive Attack have obviously been inspired by score writers of the past (I am thinking from the likes of Boy Budd's work on 'Get Carter in particular] but given their thematic motifs an adrenalin injection, deadly! "Polaroid Girl" harks back to some of Massive Attack's early work with warm keyboard lines running over glacial atmospherics and slo-mo beat The B side is a more ambient affair with the intense "Danny The Dog" dragging you under its spell before the sublime string arrangements of "Polaroid Girl" bring you back in a heavenly wash. Danny The Dog is a film about the power of love. the terrifying realities of man's capacity for violence, and the wonder of music. |
