"The artists signed to Massive Attack's label don't necessarily conform to the definition of the
word 'Melancholic',
although they are synonymous with the trio's take on modern music."

MELANKOLIC RECORDS UPDATE
It's All Happening Now', the excellent and long awaited Lewis Parker album was finally released earlier this year on Melankolic records.

Craig Armstrong followed his scores for Moulin Rouge and Kiss of the Dragon with a new album, As If To Nothing, for Melankolic. It features a number of collaborations including one with Bono and the Edge. They have recorded an acoustic version of Stay (Far Away, So Close) from U2s' Zooropa album. Craig had previously arranged the strings for U2s' soundtrack work on the Batman film. Other guest vocalists on As If To Nothing include Evan Dando, who recorded a track entitled Wake Up In New York. David Macalmont contributed vocals on Snow and Antye from the German band Laub added her talents to a song entitled Waltz. Further upcoming scores include The Quiet American and The Magdalene Sisters.

Star Gazing is the new album from Alpha. This year, they have already released the Revolution EP on Catalogue in France and a single as Vacant on Secret Agent Records. Recent remixes by Alpha include Robert Plant, Coldplay, Lambchop, Madradeus, Brendan Benson, Benjamin Biolay and Delta.
"Melankolic would love to release a new Alpha project later."

Day One and Sunna are no longer with the label.

"To create a label where its all about evolution and creativity is almost an irony. Its difficult to keep peoples interests because there is so much for them to be distracted by. In Europe, theres been a lot more real interest in the label. I think people are a lot more patient with the whole thing. Its very difficult to claim attention for any experimental music. We've tried to create a label for all the people we've met who are creative and give them a place to be creative in a commercial space with the backing of a company who are real."
Melankolic won't be signing anything new for a while - they want to redesign the label and head in other directions - "MORE INDIE.. ETC."
